John S. May is a Senior Partner of the firm with an extensive background in the area of estate planning and representing Executors and Administrators in the administration of decedent's estates and trusts.
Estate Planning - Mr. May has focused his practice on creative estate planning techniques with a view to maximizing the descent of family wealth.
Trust and Estate Administration - Mr. May's work in this area is diverse including counseling with regard to the administration of estate or trust assets to maximize savings and fast track estate distributions.
Education - Mr. May received his BA from Dartmouth College in 1959 and his JD from Villanova University School of Law in 1966.
Past and Present Professional Activities - In 1995, Mr. May was elected to the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). He is a past president of the Lancaster County Estate Planning Council (1975-1976), and a member of the American Bar Association, Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Lancaster Bar Association (Past President).
Continuing Legal Education - Mr. May has been a presenter in continuing legal education courses dealing with the administration of decedents’ estates as well as the settlement of small estates on petition, an often overlooked alternative to full probate proceedings.
Paul S. Zimmerman joined the firm in December 1997 and accepted an invitation to become a partner a little over 5 years later in January 2003. A life-long resident of Lancaster County, he continues a tradition spanning the last three generations of his family in becoming a member of the Lancaster Bar.
Mr. Zimmerman practices in the areas of Estate Administration, Will Contests, Adoptions, Guardianships, Family Law, and diverse general practice considerations.
John H. May joined the firm in January 2004. He is the third generation of his family to practice in the firm started by his grandfather, Louis S. May, in 1929.
Mr. May’s practice is focused primarily on the litigation of cases on behalf of seriously injured persons, with a secondary focus on estate administration, estate planning, and Orphans’ Court litigation, such as guardianships.
During his career, John has made multiple recoveries in excess of $1 million on behalf of his clients.
Christopher S. Underhill joined the firm in November 2015 as "of counsel", he practices in all areas of civil trials, including personal injury, automobile accidents, slip and fall, employment, construction, product liability, municipal disputes, contract disputes, and commercial disputes.
Mr. Underhill has been practicing civil trial law and municipal law since 1966. He was the first of four lawyers in Lancaster to become a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1991. The college is a national elite group of lawyers.
